21 Lessons Learned
This past week, I turned 21…
So here are 21 things I’ve learned over the years:
Always count your wins, however small they may be.
Everyone is dealing with things you may know nothing about, so be kind.
Your value is determined by who you are, not what you do.
Reading is fun and beneficial when it’s about things you enjoy.
Do something uncomfortable every day.
You don’t have to act on your emotions.
Focus on the things you can control, let go of what you can’t.
Building professional relationships is vital.
Perfectionism is dangerous.
Always be grateful for what you have.
Being a part of something greater than yourself is powerful and fulfilling.
Don’t let others tell you who you are.
Addiction is deadly.
If something takes less than 5 minutes, do it immediately.
Only take advice from people you want to be like.
Contemplate difficult questions.
Forgive yourself.
People are cheering you on, even if you don’t know it.
Prioritize your body.
Every pursuit requires sacrifice.
And most importantly…
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). The purpose of this life is to grow in my relationship with God and the Lord Jesus Christ. I’ve tried other ways which have left me hollow and unfulfilled. They simply don’t work. But of this I am sure: The God of the universe thought me valuable enough to enter his own creation only to get mocked, beaten, and ultimately hung on a cross. 2000 years ago, he gave his life for me. And now, I give my life to him.
I understand that you may not agree or find value in some of these points, and that’s okay. My intent is for you to focus on one or two which resonate with you and meditate on them.
Wishing you all a productive, safe, and meaningful week.
Keep making progress. Change for the better. Live the Heming-way.
Til next time,
Trevor
