are you living like you're going to die?

Here is a message from my church service I would like to share:

The average person in the United States lives about 78 years, which equates to 4040 weeks.

About 1352 of those weeks are spent sleeping. Almost 800 are spent working or doing work-related activities. Around 400 weeks doing household activities. 208 weeks eating or drinking, 460 watching tv, and 11 whole weeks on the toilet (hopefully not all at once).

And in my opinion, the most sobering one: The average person will spend about 360 weeks on social media. Even more for younger generations.

Different people come to different conclusions with this information. Here is my conclusion:

Life is short. James 4:14 says “you are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.”

Think about that. Your entire life equates to a mist that comes and goes in the blink of an eye.

Although it’s kind of morbid, this message was necessary for me to hear and understand. As Paul says in Romans 7:24-25: “Who will rescue me from this body of death? Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!”

I can’t continue to spend my time on things that don’t matter, nor should I feel entitled to a certain number of years. The reality is each week could be my last.

My focus should be on imitating Christ, because he is my priority.

This week, I want you to ask yourself:

Am I living like I’m going to die?

Keep making progress. Change for the better. Live the Heming-way.

Til next time,

Trevor
