Born Again

11/17/2024:

Today, I got baptized.

This week’s message is a short, personal life update that I hope inspires you.

Baptism is an outward demonstration of an inward heart change; In the Christian faith, it represents the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

In Romans 6:4 Paul says “We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.”

And that is what I have stepped into: A new life.

I have been washed clean of my old ways and have surrendered my life to Jesus. I am no longer at the steering wheel. He is.

In our culture today, that sounds crazy. You may ask, “How could you possibly let someone else have control over your life?”

There was a moment when I looked around and realized that the world is broken; You may have experienced something similar. I truly opened my eyes to the horrors of violence, lying, adultery, disease, death, betrayal, war, grief, pain, and sorrow.

Then I looked at my hands and realized that I was broken too. I needed a savior.

And Jesus is that Savior. And he extends His hand to you too.

Like in previous weeks, it still feels uncomfortable sharing something so personal. But I wanted to write about my baptism for two reasons:

  1. By telling others, they can hold me accountable as I start this new season of life.

  2. I hope to inspire someone reading this who is new to the Jesus conversation or maybe is on the fence. Trust me, it is the best decision you will ever make.

Keep making progress. Change for the better. Live the Heming-way.

Til next time,

Trevor
