Be Comfortable With "No"
Every day, different things pull us this way and that. We have to wash the dishes, we have to walk the dog, we have to call Linda or she will throw a fit.
There are so many things to do but such little time.
It’s funny how we value money so highly but throw our time away like it grows on trees. In my life, I have a bad habit of doing this.
The main scenario that comes to mind is this:
There are things I need to get done to advance my life, whether that be personal or professional. Study for exams, consistently exercise, prepare for work.
Moving forward, I’m striving to get better at saying no.
I tend to say yes to things when they aren’t my priority at that time. For example, friends ask me to grab dinner but I have an exam to study for the next day.
Instead of saying yes because I would feel bad saying no, I must make the best decision based on my priorities.
All in all, it’s okay to say no.
Get your priorities straight and make decisions based on where you want to go. I’m not telling you to say no to everything now, I’m just urging you to value your time more.
Keep making progress. Change for the better. Live the Heming-way.
Til next time,
Trevor
