Smile More
Growing up, I watched a Youtuber named Roman Atwood, who made daily vlogs and prank videos. It’s been a long time since I’ve heard the name, but today his slogan came to mind:
Smile more.
Such a simple yet profound message. There aren’t many things in life more beautiful than a genuine smile, especially when it’s someone you love.
So many situations could be improved by this simple act. When walking past a stranger, smile. When listening to a friend, smile. When you wake up, smile. Before going to bed, smile.
Now you may call me weird, which would be correct, but even smiling when you’re by yourself is powerful. It may feel awkward at first, but at least you can’t embarrass yourself because there’s no one else there.
I find when I smile, my attitude becomes more positive. So do my thoughts and my actions. I’m sure there is some psychological explanation for this, but it seems that in my life, smiling is a catalyst for positive mood change.
With this knowledge, I want to keep this question at the front of my mind moving forward, and I recommend you do the same:
Isn’t there so much more to smile about than I realize?
I wanted to keep this week’s post short and sweet.
I hope you gained some value from this topic I’ve been pondering on. As cliché or cringey as it may sound, doesn’t it make sense?
That being said, a full life requires a full range of emotions. After all, if you’re smiling 24/7, that’s a bit odd.
But I think everyone could find more opportunities to smile, enjoy the moment, and be thankful to be alive…
It’s quite the blessing.
Keep making progress. Change for the better. Live the Heming-way.
Til next time,
Trevor
