Stay Busy
Here is a simple yet important concept I’ve been focusing on this week:
Stay busy.
If I’m being honest, every time I enter a busy season of my life, part of me dreads it: more responsibilities, more work, more stress. However, I look back and realize those are some of the most fulfilling times of my life.
Why is this the case?
I think the obvious explanation is that I put more time and effort into things that help me. Here are some examples of different ‘busy seasons’ I’ve been in:
Work season - Did extra-well financially
Relationship season - Did extra-well nurturing relationships with friends and family
Exercise season - Did extra-well consistently weightlifting, running, and recovering
You see, don’t think of a busy season as only work-related, like accountants during tax season, nor should you think a ‘season’ must be a certain length. Anything you put extra time and effort into over two weeks or more I would consider a ‘season.’
But what is the point of all this?
The point is that staying busy is a good thing (in my humble opinion). Being busy means there is less time to overthink and doubt yourself. It means you can do more in less time. And in my experience, it means a more fulfilling life.
This week, I challenge you to prioritize an aspect of your life you’ve been wanting for a while. Maybe it’s one listed above like relationships or exercise, or maybe not. Either way, when you have extra time, focus on that thing.
This could mean inviting a friend or family member out for dinner when you usually make it at home by yourself. It could mean going to the gym before work when you’re usually too tired after the workday is done.
Either way, here is my message this week: Being busy is a blessing, not a burden.
Keep making progress. Change for the better. Live the Heming-way
Til next time,
Trevor
