Time

Time is a weird thing in case you didn’t already know.

Here’s an analogy I feel called to share to demonstrate this fact:

I’m 20 years old right now. Let’s say that if I practiced playing guitar for 10 hours a week, I would be considered a good guitar player by the end of next year.

Now where would I be at the end of next year if I never touched a guitar? I would still be 21, but I couldn’t play a chord to save my life.

Let’s blow up the proportions:

I’m 20 years old right now. If I went to the gym 3 days a week for the next 30 years, I would have a significant amount of strength, more energy, better cardiovascular health, a lower risk of injury, and the other million benefits of exercise.

If I didn’t touch a dumbbell for the next 30 years, I would be the same age just out of shape instead of fit.

I want you to do one yourself:

I’m ___ years old right now. If I started/practiced/did _________ for ______amount of time, I would be __________________. If I didn’t, I would be ______________.

Maybe it’s going to law school. Maybe it’s starting that business. Maybe it’s trying out yoga, investing in a relationship, or leaning into your faith. If you’re anything like me, one thing in particular comes to mind immediately.

Whatever it may be, the vital ingredient is always time. If you don’t start doing it now, the clock will keep on ticking. It will be 1, 5, 10, 20, 50 years in the future and you’ll be in the same position. I don’t want that for myself, nor do I want it for you.

Time stops for no one, so how about we make the most of it?

I hope you gained value from this week’s message.

It’s something that we already know but need to be reminded of every once in a while.

Keep making progress. Change for the better. Live the Heming-way.

Til next time,

Trevor
