Turn the Tide of your Soul

As a Christian, I believe some things that most people don’t.

I believe that after I die, I’ll go to Heaven because I am accepting the gift of salvation that God offers through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

And although I have given my life to God for some time, I had a revelation this week after reading the works of 20th-century Christian Scholar C.S. Lewis. This is what I want to talk about today.

When I die, my body will be no more; it will return to dust. What comes with me after death is who I truly am.

In other words, my soul is my true character while my body is just a temporary vessel for this world.

C.S. Lewis explains that this is what Christians are called to do:

Turn the tide of your soul to the side of goodness (towards God) and away from evil (separation from God).

Each little choice, decision, action, thought, and moment is constantly determining where my soul lies on this spectrum of good and evil.

The goal of my life (rather the whole entire point of my existence) is to accept God’s gift of salvation and turn the tide of my soul toward Him.

This is the point of my life on Earth.

The desires of my flesh and my Godly desires are at war with each other. And it is my duty to turn the tide towards God.

I understand that most of you reading this are not Christian. However, I don’t think writing surface-level tips and tricks is going to help you much.

This is why I am writing personal testimony to my life, explaining what I’m doing, what's working, and what's not.

And in my life, I’ve found that the more I strengthen my relationship with Jesus, the more I am transformed for the better.

I hope this sparks some thoughts and ideas to use in your own life, even if it’s in ways you don’t expect.

To close us out, reflect on these questions:

Who are you at the deepest level of being?

What is your purpose?

Keep making progress. Change for the better. Live the Heming-way.

Til next time,

Trevor
