Wonder
With Christmas right around the corner, the excitement of the holidays is taking over: good food, spending time with family, gift-giving, lights, songs, decorations and the like.
In other words, Christmas is a day of celebration…but what exactly are we celebrating?
Well, it’s in the name: Christ.
We celebrate the birth of Jesus, the Son of God who would defeat sin and death once and for all.
This past week, I can’t help but sit back in complete wonder and awe at the beautiful Christian story of redemption.
The God of unlimited power, knowledge, and authority came down in the form of a man to be mocked, beaten, and humiliated. Despite his innocence, he was killed by means of the most severe Roman death penalty: crucifixion.
All this to reconcile me, you, and all of mankind with The Father.
Now I’ve known of this story for quite some time, but this is the first year where I have truly and deeply contemplated its gravity.
You also may have heard this story a million times, but do you understand it? Do you contemplate it? Are you filled with wonder by it?
How much did Jesus have to love me to endure what he did? And if you or I were the only person living, I am convinced he would still sacrifice himself to save us.
This kind of love is other-worldly. It transcends human logic and reason.
This is the stance I am taking this Christmas. I’m focusing on why I celebrate rather than how or with whom.
I hope this week’s post gave you something to think about. Since my faith is central to my being, I felt obligated to share why I celebrate Christmas.
This week, I challenge you to sit down and really ponder the wonders of life. What a gift it is!
Finally, I want to express my gratitude to you, dear readers, for taking the time to read my words. I am beyond grateful for this platform where I can share my thoughts, ideas, and reflections.
I wish you a very Merry Christmas and will be praying for you!
Keep making progress. Change for the better. Live the Heming-way.
Til next time,
Trevor
